Jordache was founded by the Nakash brothers in 1978.
The brothers—Joe, Ralph, and Avi Nakash—built the brand after entering the garment business in New York. Jordache became known for fashion-oriented jeans and highly visible advertising, especially during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Its products helped define the era’s designer-jeans boom.
A major part of Jordache’s identity was the embroidered horse-head logo, which appeared on the back pockets of many jeans. The brand also became famous for television commercials featuring models riding horses, turning a small clothing label into a widely recognized name.
Jordache is frequently grouped with Guess, Sasson, and Gloria Vanderbilt because all were prominent in the same designer-denim period. However, those companies had different founders and histories. The Nakash brothers and the year 1978 specifically identify Jordache.
