Folklore won Taylor Swift the 2021 Grammy for Album of the Year. The award recognized the album that contains “august,” along with songs such as “cardigan,” “exile,” and “betty.”
The victory made Folklore Swift’s third Album of the Year winner at the Grammys. Her earlier wins in that category came for Fearless and 1989, making her the first woman to win the award three times as a solo artist at that point.
Folklore was created during the pandemic and released as a surprise album in July 2020. Its fictional narratives, muted production, and collaborative songwriting distinguished it from the brighter pop sound of Lover.
Evermore is often linked with Folklore because Swift released it later in 2020 as a sister album. However, Evermore did not win the 2021 Album of the Year award; Folklore did.
