Karen Allen reprised her role as Marion Ravenwood in “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”
Marion was introduced in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981) as an independent, capable adventurer and the daughter of archaeologist Abner Ravenwood. She and Indiana Jones share a complicated romantic history, beginning with their earlier relationship in Nepal and continuing through the search for the Ark of the Covenant.
Allen returned as Marion in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” (2008), where she and Indy marry after discovering that their son is Mutt Williams. In “Dial of Destiny,” set largely in 1969, Marion and Indy are separated following their son’s death in the Vietnam War. Her brief but emotionally important appearance helps bring the character’s long-running story to a close.
Marion is sometimes confused with Willie Scott, played by Kate Capshaw in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” or Elsa Schneider, played by Alison Doody in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.” Neither character is Marion Ravenwood.
