Which actress plays Iris Steensma in Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver?

Jodie Foster plays Iris Steensma in Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver.

Iris is a teenage runaway who has become involved with Sport, a pimp played by Harvey Keitel. Travis Bickle, the lonely taxi driver played by Robert De Niro, becomes preoccupied with rescuing her, although his thinking and actions are deeply unstable.

Foster was 12 years old when she made the film. Her performance drew major attention, and she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The role required careful production arrangements because of the character’s age and the film’s mature subject matter.

Cybill Shepherd, another major cast member, plays Betsy, the political campaign worker whom Travis idealizes. Betsy and Iris are therefore sometimes confused in questions about the film, but Foster is specifically associated with Iris.
