Which actress played the Romulan officer Sela in TNG?
Answer
Denise Crosby
Answer
Denise Crosby
Denise Crosby played the Romulan officer Sela in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Sela is the half-human, half-Romulan daughter of Tasha Yar, Crosby’s earlier TNG character, and appears in the fourth- and fifth-season story arc involving the Romulan Empire.
Crosby originally played Security Chief Tasha Yar, who died during the first season. The character’s alternate-history version in “Yesterday’s Enterprise” provides the story background for Sela: Yar remains aboard the Enterprise-C, is captured by Romulans, and later becomes Sela’s mother. Sela is raised within Romulan society and becomes a commander working against the Federation.
Crosby returned as Sela in “Redemption” and “Unification,” where the character becomes involved in Romulan political and military schemes. A frequent mix-up is Michelle Forbes, who played Ro Laren, another prominent TNG guest character. Marina Sirtis and Gates McFadden were series regulars, but neither portrayed Sela.
