Which actress played Mal, the deceased wife in Inception?

Marion Cotillard played Mal, the deceased wife of Dom Cobb, in Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Mal appears throughout the film as a powerful projection of Cobb’s guilt and unresolved grief, rather than as a living member of the dream-infiltration team.

Within the story, Cobb and Mal once experimented with shared dreaming and became trapped in Limbo, a seemingly timeless realm created from the subconscious. They experienced decades there before returning to reality. Mal remained convinced that reality was another dream, and Cobb inadvertently planted the idea that they needed to “wake up.” Her later suicide becomes the central source of Cobb’s guilt and causes her image to repeatedly disrupt his missions.
