Which actress played Ginger McKenna in Martin Scorsese’s Casino?
Answer
Sharon Stone
Answer
Sharon Stone
Sharon Stone played Ginger McKenna in Martin Scorsese’s Casino.
Released in 1995, Casino stars Robert De Niro as casino executive Sam “Ace” Rothstein and Joe Pesci as mob enforcer Nicky Santoro. Stone portrays Ginger, a skilled hustler and con artist whose relationship with Ace becomes central to the film’s personal and criminal conflicts.
Casino was adapted from Nicholas Pileggi’s nonfiction book Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas. Pileggi also co-wrote the screenplay with Scorsese, following their collaboration on Goodfellas. The story draws on real Las Vegas figures, although the characters’ names and some events were changed for the film.
Stone’s performance earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. A common mix-up is confusing Ginger with Karen Hill, the character Lorraine Bracco played in Goodfellas; both films examine relationships affected by organized crime, but they are separate roles and stories.
