Which actress played Commander Nyota Uhura in Star Trek (2009)?

Zoe Saldana played Commander Nyota Uhura in Star Trek (2009).

The film reimagines the original Star Trek characters in an alternate timeline created when the Romulan ship Narada travels into the past. Saldana portrays a younger Uhura during her Starfleet training and early career. The performance places Uhura within the central bridge crew while also expanding her relationship with Spock.

Nichelle Nichols played Uhura in the original television series and the films featuring the original cast, so the two actresses are often confused when questions do not specify the version. Alice Eve played Carol Marcus in Star Trek Into Darkness, not Uhura.

Star Trek (2009) was directed by J. J. Abrams and introduced a new cast for the classic characters, including Chris Pine as James T. Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock.
