Which actor was in both "A Few Good Men" and "Jerry Maguire"?

The story behind the answer

Cuba Gooding, Jr. was the actor in both A Few Good Men and Jerry Maguire. In A Few Good Men, he played Corporal Carl Edward Hammaker, a supporting member of the military cast involved in the courtroom drama surrounding two Marines.

Four years later, Gooding appeared in Jerry Maguire as Rod Tidwell, an outspoken and demanding wide receiver whose career becomes the central professional challenge for sports agent Jerry Maguire, played by Tom Cruise. Tidwell’s insistence on personal loyalty and the phrase “Show me the money!” made the role one of Gooding’s signature performances.

The two films represent very different stages of his career. A Few Good Men was released in 1992, while Jerry Maguire premiered in 1996. Gooding’s performance in Jerry Maguire earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, making him the first Black winner in that category since Louis Gossett Jr. in 1983.
