Vi, whose birth name is Violet, is one of the series’ central characters. The story follows her turbulent relationship with her younger sister, Powder—later known as Jinx—as conflict grows between the wealthy city of Piltover and the undercity of Zaun. Steinfeld performs Vi as a tough, impulsive fighter whose confidence masks guilt and grief.

Arcane is an animated series set in the League of Legends universe, but viewers do not need to know the game to understand Vi. The show premiered on Netflix in 2021 and was created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, with animation by Fortiche. Its second season, released in 2024, concluded the main story.
