Nolan North voices Desmond Miles in the first Assassin’s Creed game.
North is an American voice actor known for extensive work in video games, animation, and television. In Assassin’s Creed, he performs the modern-day role of Desmond Miles, whose genetic memories are accessed through the Animus. He also voices Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad, the historical character whose memories Desmond experiences in the first game.
The dual role can cause confusion because the player sees two major characters but hears the same performer associated with both. North continued voicing Desmond in later main-series entries, including Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations.
Roger Craig Smith is closely associated with Ezio Auditore, while Michael Fassbender played a different Assassin’s Creed character, Aguilar de Nerha, in the 2016 film. Troy Baker has voiced characters in many major games but does not voice Desmond in the original title.
