Which actor voices the adult version of Miguel’s great-grandmother Coco in Pixar’s Coco?

Ana Ofelia Murguía voices the adult version of Miguel’s great-grandmother Coco in Pixar’s Coco.

Coco is the elderly family member whose childhood memories hold the emotional key to the Rivera family’s history. In the story, Miguel learns that remembering loved ones is essential to keeping them present in family life and in the Land of the Dead.

Murguía was a celebrated Mexican actress with a career spanning film, television, and theater. Her role in Coco is especially significant because the character’s name became the film’s title, even though the story is primarily experienced through Miguel’s point of view.

The role can be confused with Mamá Coco’s younger voice, performed by another actor in the film’s Spanish-language production. Murguía’s performance is associated with the elderly character seen throughout the main story.
