Which actor voices Captain Hook in Shrek 2?

Ian McShane voices Captain Hook in Shrek 2.

Captain Hook appears among the fairy-tale figures associated with Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming. In the film, he is not the central pirate villain of a Peter Pan adaptation; instead, he is a supporting character folded into Shrek’s comic shared fairy-tale universe.

McShane’s voice performance is brief but distinctive. The actor later became especially recognized for roles in television and film such as Deadwood, where he played Al Swearengen, and the John Wick films, where he played Winston Scott.

The character is easy to misidentify because Shrek 2 contains many famous fairy-tale references and because Captain Hook has been voiced by numerous actors in other adaptations. This question refers specifically to the 2004 DreamWorks film, not to a Peter Pan production or another animated version.
