Which actor voiced Desmond Miles in the original Assassin's Creed video game?

The story behind the answer

Nolan North voiced Desmond Miles in the original Assassin's Creed video game.

Desmond is the modern-day character whose genetic memories are accessed through the Animus. Nolan North provided Desmond's voice in the 2007 game, helping establish the contemporary framework around Altaïr's historical story. The role made North part of the franchise's earliest voice cast.

North is also widely known for voicing Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series and has performed many other video-game characters. His work as Desmond differs from the voice performances of the historical protagonists, who are played by other actors across the franchise.

Roger Craig Smith voiced Ezio in later Assassin's Creed projects, including Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood. Michael Fassbender played a different character, Callum Lynch, in the 2016 Assassin's Creed film. Troy Baker has appeared in major games but did not voice Desmond in the original title.
