Which actor played Wesley Crusher on TNG?
Answer
Wil Wheaton
Answer
Wil Wheaton
Wil Wheaton played Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Wesley Crusher is the gifted son of Dr. Beverly Crusher and the late Lieutenant Jack Crusher. He arrives aboard the USS Enterprise-D with his mother and initially struggles to earn Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s confidence. His intelligence and technical ability eventually lead Picard to grant him bridge access and assign him increasing responsibility, despite Wesley’s youth.
Wheaton played Wesley throughout TNG, first as a major young character and later in a more intermittent role. Wesley’s story follows his development from an unusually talented teenager into a Starfleet Academy cadet. The Traveler, an enigmatic alien encountered by the Enterprise, recognizes Wesley’s extraordinary potential and encourages him to pursue it.
Wesley became one of TNG’s most debated characters. Some viewers disliked plotlines in which a teenager solved problems that challenged experienced officers, while others appreciated the character’s coming-of-age perspective. The role is also commonly mixed up with the actors who played Wesley’s fellow senior officers: LeVar Burton was Geordi La Forge, Brent Spiner was Data, and Jonathan Frakes was William Riker. Wheaton later reprised Wesley in Star Trek: Nemesis, Star Trek: Picard, and Star Trek: Prodigy.
