Which actor played J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films? J. K. Simmons played him.

Simmons portrays J. Jonah Jameson, the loud, cigar-chomping editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. His Jameson treats Spider-Man as a menace and eagerly publishes sensational stories that blame the hero for trouble, creating one of the films’ most memorable comic foils.

Simmons played the character in Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), and Spider-Man 3 (2007). His performance became so closely associated with the role that Marvel brought him back for later Spider-Man-related projects, although those appearances feature a different continuity’s version of Jameson.

That distinction explains a common point of confusion. Simmons returned as Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where Jameson operates TheDailyBugle.net rather than the exact Daily Bugle continuity of Raimi’s trilogy. Simmons also appeared in other connected Marvel productions, including Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
