Which '25' track was produced by Max Martin and Shellback?

The story behind the answer

“Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” was the 25 track produced by Max Martin and Shellback. The song gave Adele’s third album a brighter, more rhythmic pop direction than its best-known piano ballads.

Adele co-wrote the track with Max Martin and Shellback. Its creation followed an unproductive writing period with Ryan Tedder, after Adele heard Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” and became interested in Martin’s production style. Martin later helped shape Adele’s guitar idea into the finished song, while Shellback handled programming and percussion.

The song was inspired by a teenage song idea Adele revisited after hearing Amy Winehouse’s album Frank. Its lyrics address an ex-partner from a position of release rather than heartbreak. That upbeat tone is why it can be confused with other 25 songs, especially “Water Under the Bridge,” another pop-oriented track on the album.

Although “Hello” was 25’s lead single, “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” became the album’s third single, released in May 2016. Adele also contributed guitar and backing vocals to the recording.
