Ragtime was the 2026 Tony-winning production directed by Lear deBessonet.
DeBessonet directed the Broadway revival of Ragtime, a sweeping musical set in the United States at the beginning of the twentieth century. The production brought together stories involving a Black family, Jewish immigrants, and wealthy white Americans, using their intersecting lives to examine American change.
The revival won Best Revival of a Musical at the 79th Tony Awards. It also produced acting winners Joshua Henry and Caissie Levy, who received the leading performance awards in a musical. Kai Harada won Sound Design of a Musical for the production as well.
Lear deBessonet is known for directing large-scale theatrical works that combine ensemble storytelling with strong visual movement. Her Tony-winning Ragtime revival was one of three productions that won four competitive awards during the 2026 ceremony.
