Which 2016 film is the first feature-film adaptation of the Assassin's Creed video-game series?
Answer
Assassin's Creed
Answer
Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed is the first feature-film adaptation of the Assassin's Creed video-game series.
The film was released in 2016 and directed by Justin Kurzel. Michael Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, a modern-day prisoner who experiences the memories of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha through a machine related to the Animus.
Unlike a direct retelling of one game, the film introduces a new modern protagonist and an original historical Assassin. Its historical storyline is set during the Spanish Inquisition, while the modern plot concerns the conflict between the Assassins and Templars.
The film should not be confused with the earlier short film Assassin's Creed: Lineage, released in 2009 as a promotional prequel to Assassin's Creed II. It also differs from game adaptations such as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which is based on another Ubisoft franchise.
