Lemonade was the Beyoncé visual album that premiered as an HBO film on April 23, 2016.
The project was presented as a one-hour film on HBO before its audio album became available digitally. It combines music, poetry, narration, and imagery into a nonlinear story about betrayal, grief, anger, reconciliation, and family.
Lemonade includes songs such as “Formation,” “Sorry,” “Hold Up,” “Freedom,” and “All Night.” Its visual chapters draw on African American history, Southern landscapes, literature, and the experiences of Black women.
The album received widespread acclaim and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. It was nominated for Album of the Year at the 59th Grammy Awards, while “Formation” won Best Music Video and earned additional nominations.
