Which 1993 sci-fi film centers on dinosaurs cloned for a theme park?

The story behind the answer

The 1993 science-fiction film about dinosaurs cloned for a theme park is "Jurassic Park."

Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film adapts Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel. Its story follows industrialist John Hammond, who creates a dinosaur park on the fictional Isla Nublar near Costa Rica. Before the park can safely open, a security failure and deliberate sabotage allow the animals to escape control.

In the film’s fictional science, researchers recover dinosaur DNA from mosquitoes preserved in amber. They fill gaps in the damaged genetic material with DNA from frogs and other animals. The resulting creatures include Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptors, Brachiosaurus, and Triceratops.

The title can cause confusion with the later sequel "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," released in 1997. "Congo" and "Deep Blue Sea" are also creature-focused films, but neither centers on a dinosaur theme park. The dinosaurs were brought to life through a combination of computer-generated imagery and full-size animatronic models.
