Spider-Man and Electro first battle in Times Square in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Their confrontation erupts after Max Dillon, transformed into Electro, begins disrupting New York’s power system.
Electro is the superpowered identity of Max Dillon, played by Jamie Foxx. After gaining electrical abilities, he becomes increasingly unstable and attacks the city. Spider-Man, played by Andrew Garfield, arrives in Times Square to stop him, leading to a large public showdown involving power surges, collapsing infrastructure, and a citywide blackout threat.
The scene is often confused with the movie’s later climactic fight at a power plant. Times Square is the location of Spider-Man and Electro’s first major confrontation, while the power plant hosts their later battle with Gwen Stacy involved in the plan to overload Electro. Although the story presents the action as Times Square, much of the sequence was filmed using a detailed replica set built in Queens, New York.
