When was the original Assassin's Creed first released in North America?

The story behind the answer

The original Assassin's Creed was first released in North America on 13 November 2007.

Ubisoft Montreal developed the action-adventure game, while Ubisoft published it for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A Windows version followed in April 2008. The game introduced players to Desmond Miles, whose genetic memories connect him to Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad during the Third Crusade.

The release date is sometimes confused with the game's European launch, which occurred on 15 November 2007, or its Australian launch on 21 November. It is also distinct from the later PC release. The original title established the series' recurring conflict between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templars, along with climbing, stealth, investigation, and historical open-world exploration.

Its 2007 launch made Assassin's Creed one of Ubisoft's major new intellectual properties and led to numerous sequels, spin-offs, novels, comics, and a feature film.
