When did The Sarah Connor Chronicles television series premiere?

The story behind the answer

The Sarah Connor Chronicles premiered on January 13, 2008.

The television series follows Sarah Connor and her teenage son John after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. It explores their attempts to hide from future machine threats while preparing for the possibility that Skynet’s rise can still be prevented.

Lena Headey played Sarah Connor, Thomas Dekker played John Connor, and Summer Glau played Cameron, a reprogrammed Terminator sent to protect John. The series therefore used familiar franchise ideas while introducing a new central machine character and a broader episodic storyline.

The show aired on Fox and ran for two seasons, ending in 2009. Its title is sometimes shortened informally to Sarah Connor Chronicles, but the official series title includes Terminator. Its premiere date is also distinct from the dates of the films that inspired it.
