When did Nintendo first show Mario Kart World footage with the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement?

Nintendo first showed Mario Kart World footage with the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement on January 16, 2025.

At that stage, Nintendo had not yet presented the game’s full title and trailer in a dedicated reveal. The footage accompanied the announcement of the new console and gave viewers an early look at the next Mario Kart project.

The formal title announcement came later, during a Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025. Nintendo then presented a dedicated Mario Kart World Direct on April 17, making the January appearance the earliest date in the public reveal sequence.

Mario Kart World became a launch title for Nintendo Switch 2. It released on June 5, 2025, so the January footage preceded the game’s launch by several months and helped establish it as one of the console’s headline games.
