WWE launched the WWE Network streaming service in 2014.
The service debuted in the United States on February 24, 2014, replacing the traditional pay-per-view model with a subscription platform that offered live events, original programming, archived matches, and documentary content. WrestleMania XXX was the first WrestleMania broadcast on the network.
WWE initially promoted the service as a hybrid television network and digital streaming product. Its library included extensive footage from WWE, WCW, ECW, and other wrestling promotions whose video archives WWE controlled or had acquired.
The WWE Network expanded internationally in stages after its American launch. In several markets, including the United Kingdom and Ireland, the service later operated through partnerships before WWE programming and premium live events moved to other streaming platforms.
