McDonald's launched a major global packaging redesign in 2008.
The redesign replaced many earlier packages with cleaner layouts, large food photography and simplified use of the Golden Arches and brand colors. It was part of a broader effort to make packaging look more contemporary and consistent across countries while allowing local languages and menu items.
McDonald's packaging has changed repeatedly as the company has addressed nutrition information, recycling and regional regulations. The 2008 redesign is often confused with restaurant interior “reimaging” programs, which occurred on different schedules. Packaging updates do not alter the underlying Golden Arches trademark; they refresh how that symbol and the food imagery appear at the point of sale.
