McDonald’s introduced the phrase “McDonald’s is Your Kind of Place” in 1967.
The slogan reflected the company’s effort to present its restaurants as welcoming places for families and ordinary customers. During the 1960s, McDonald’s was expanding beyond its original California base, so advertising increasingly needed to communicate a consistent national personality as well as the practical benefits of quick service.
This line belongs to the period when McDonald’s branding moved from simple product and speed messages toward broader ideas about belonging and everyday family life. It appeared before the better-known “You Deserve a Break Today” campaign of the 1970s.
Slogans can be difficult to date because McDonald’s reused campaign themes across media and markets. The 1967 date identifies the introduction of this particular English-language advertising phrase, not the beginning of all McDonald’s slogan-based marketing.
