Answer
Till We Have Faces
C.S. Lewis’s final published novel was Till We Have Faces, published in 1956. It was his last work of fiction to appear during his lifetime and retells the classical myth of Cupid and Psyche.
The novel came after The Chronicles of Narnia and after the two completed volumes of Lewis’s Space Trilogy. Its setting, first-person narration, and psychological focus differ sharply from the children’s fantasy style for which Lewis is most famous.
The title comes from the book’s concern with identity, self-knowledge, and the barriers people place between themselves and truth. Orual, the narrator, gradually confronts how her own desires and grievances have shaped her understanding of others.
Readers sometimes choose The Last Battle because it was the final Narnia book, or That Hideous Strength because it was the final volume of the Space Trilogy. Those are series endings, not Lewis’s final published novel overall. Till We Have Faces occupies that broader place in his fiction bibliography.
