What was the score of the 2024 Australian Open women's singles final?

The story behind the answer

The 2024 Australian Open women’s singles final ended 6–3, 6–2, with Aryna Sabalenka defeating Zheng Qinwen. Sabalenka successfully defended the title she had won in 2023.

Sabalenka controlled the match with powerful serving and aggressive baseline play. She did not lose a set throughout the tournament and dropped only 31 games across her seven matches. The victory gave her a second major singles title.

Zheng was playing in her first Grand Slam singles final. Her run made her the second Chinese woman to reach a major singles final, after Li Na, who won the 2011 French Open and 2014 Australian Open.

The result is sometimes mixed up with the 2023 women’s final, when Sabalenka defeated Elena Rybakina in three sets. In 2024, by contrast, Sabalenka won in straight sets, 6–3, 6–2.
