What was the original name of the cruise ship SS Norway before its 1979 conversion?

The story behind the answer

The cruise ship SS Norway was originally named SS France. Launched in 1960 for the French Line, the vessel was one of the last major purpose-built ocean liners constructed for regular North Atlantic service.

France was designed for the Le Havre–New York route and featured streamlined modern interiors, large public rooms and accommodations for both passengers and crew. The growth of commercial jet aviation made long-distance liner travel increasingly difficult to operate profitably, and France was laid up in 1974.

Norwegian Caribbean Line purchased the ship and rebuilt it extensively for cruising. Renamed SS Norway, she entered cruise service in 1980 and became an important example of how an ocean liner could be repurposed as a resort vessel. The ship was later renamed Blue Lady and was ultimately dismantled in Alang, India, in the late 2000s.
