Money no Tora was the original Japanese television title translated into English as Money Tigers and used as the format behind Britain's Dragon's Den.
The Japanese programme established the central television idea: entrepreneurs make formal business pitches to wealthy investors, who decide whether the proposal merits funding in exchange for equity.
When the format was adapted for Britain, the production retained the confrontational pitch-room structure but changed the title, presenters, investors and cultural references. The British version premiered in 2005 and became one of the best-known international versions.
The name is sometimes reduced simply to Money Tigers in English-language summaries. Money Tigers is the translation; Money no Tora is the Japanese title and the more precise answer when a question asks for the original name.
