What was the name of the French town where Joan of Arc sought an escort to Charles VII?

The story behind the answer

Joan of Arc sought an escort to Charles VII at Vaucouleurs.

In early 1429, Joan traveled from Domrémy to Vaucouleurs, a fortified town loyal to Charles VII. She asked Robert de Baudricourt, the local captain, to provide an armed escort so she could reach the king and deliver her message about relieving the siege of Orléans.

Baudricourt initially dismissed her request. Joan returned after gaining support from local residents and after events appeared to strengthen her reputation. He eventually provided an escort, clothing suitable for travel, and a horse. Joan left Vaucouleurs with several companions and reached Charles at Chinon.

Vaucouleurs was strategically important because it lay on the frontier between territories loyal to Charles and lands controlled by his enemies. The town’s support made Joan’s journey to the royal court possible.
