What was the name of the forest inhabited by Treebeard in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth?
Answer
Fangorn Forest
Answer
Fangorn Forest
Treebeard inhabited Fangorn Forest in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Fangorn is an ancient woodland on the eastern edge of the Misty Mountains and is home to Ents, the tree-like shepherds of forests.
The forest takes its name from Fangorn, the Sindarin name used for Treebeard. Merry and Pippin enter Fangorn after escaping from the Uruk-hai, and their meeting with Treebeard helps bring the Ents into the War of the Ring.
Fangorn is often confused with Mirkwood, another major forest in Tolkien’s world. Mirkwood lies farther east and is associated with Thranduil’s Elves and the events of The Hobbit, whereas Fangorn is the setting for the Ents’ awakening and march against Isengard.
