Boxen was the fictional world created by C.S. Lewis and Warren Lewis in childhood.
The brothers developed Boxen during their early years, building an elaborate imaginary setting populated largely by anthropomorphic animals. They wrote stories, histories, and descriptions of its countries and political life.
Boxen combined two earlier imaginative projects: “Animal-Land,” associated with Warren, and “India,” associated with C.S. Lewis. The resulting world was a private creative project rather than a published series during their childhood.
Boxen is important because it shows how early Lewis’s interest in invented worlds, narrative history, and talking animals began. It should not be confused with Narnia, the later fantasy world of The Chronicles of Narnia.
