What was the name of the dog that found the stolen FIFA World Cup trophy in 1966?

The story behind the answer

Pickles was the dog that found the stolen FIFA World Cup trophy in 1966.

The Jules Rimet Trophy was stolen from an exhibition at London’s Methodist Central Hall in March 1966, several months before England hosted the World Cup. The trophy was wrapped in newspaper and discovered by Pickles, a black-and-white collie owned by David Corbett, beneath a garden hedge in South London.

Pickles became a celebrity and was invited to celebrations after England won the tournament. The episode is often remembered alongside England’s victory, although the trophy found by Pickles was later stolen again in Brazil in 1983 and was never recovered.

The original Jules Rimet Trophy was awarded permanently to Brazil after its third World Cup win in 1970. FIFA then introduced a different trophy, the current FIFA World Cup Trophy.
