What was the name of the company founded by Dragon's Den investor Peter Jones before his television career?

The story behind the answer

Peter Jones founded Phones International Group before becoming a Dragon's Den investor. The company operated in the mobile-phone and telecommunications sector and became a major part of his early business career.

Jones had developed an interest in technology and communications while young. Phones International expanded during a period when mobile phones were moving from specialist devices into mainstream consumer use, giving the company access to a rapidly growing market.

His later investments have covered technology, consumer products, leisure and retail. He joined the original British Dragon's Den panel in 2005 and is the only original Dragon to remain a regular investor through the programme's many line-up changes.

The company name is sometimes overlooked because Jones is now more strongly associated with the television programme and with the Peter Jones Foundation. It should also not be confused with Ryman, which was founded by Theo Paphitis, or Red Letter Days, associated with Rachel Elnaugh.
