The Venture was the boat that carried the escaped Tyrannosaurus to San Diego in The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
In the film’s final act, an adult Tyrannosaurus is transported from Isla Sorna to California as part of InGen’s plan to display the animal. The ship reaches San Diego without a living crew visible on deck, creating a mystery before the dinosaur escapes into the city.
The Venture’s arrival sets up the film’s urban climax. The Tyrannosaurus moves through San Diego, while Ian Malcolm and Sarah Harding try to locate it and return it to the ship. The sequence deliberately echoes classic monster-movie stories in which a dangerous creature reaches a populated city.
The vessel’s name is sometimes confused with the ships and vehicles used elsewhere in the franchise. The first film’s tour vehicles include Ford Explorers, but the boat in The Lost World is specifically named The Venture.
