Mayor McCheese was McDonaldland’s moon-faced mayor character.

He had a cheeseburger-shaped head, a formal suit, a sash, and a mayoral role in McDonald’s advertising. The character appeared alongside Ronald McDonald and other McDonaldland figures during the period when the company used a large cast of cartoon personalities to build a child-focused brand world.

Mayor McCheese was not the same character as the restaurant’s product mascot for the Big Mac. His name and appearance connected him broadly with McDonald’s cheeseburger identity, while his story role was civic and comedic.
