What was the name of McDonald's cheese-themed mayor character in McDonaldland?

Mayor McCheese was McDonald's cheese-themed mayor character in the McDonaldland advertising world.

The character had a human body and an oversized cheeseburger-shaped head, making the food itself part of his visual identity. He appeared in McDonald's advertising alongside Ronald McDonald, Grimace, the Hamburglar, and other fictional characters.

Mayor McCheese represented a playful civic leader within McDonaldland. His title and costume helped make the imaginary setting feel like a complete community rather than a collection of unrelated mascots.

Mayor McCheese is sometimes mistaken for Officer Big Mac, another McDonaldland character whose name referenced a McDonald's menu item. The mayor's defining clue is his cheeseburger head and formal mayoral role.
