Answer
Alfred Stieglitz
Answer
Alfred Stieglitz
Georgia O’Keeffe married Alfred Stieglitz in 1924.
Stieglitz was an American photographer, modern-art promoter, and gallery owner. He first encountered O’Keeffe’s abstract charcoal drawings through the photographer and art educator Anita Pollitzer, then exhibited them at his gallery, 291, in 1916. Their professional relationship became personal, and they married in New York in 1924.
Stieglitz made hundreds of photographs of O’Keeffe, but his influence on her career was not limited to portraiture. Through his galleries and publications, he promoted modern European and American art and helped introduce O’Keeffe to influential audiences.
Their marriage lasted until Stieglitz’s death in 1946. O’Keeffe later moved permanently to New Mexico, while Stieglitz had spent much of his career in New York.
