What was the name of Einstein's second wife, also his cousin?

Albert Einstein’s second wife, who was also his cousin, was Elsa Einstein.

Elsa was born Elsa Einstein in Hechingen, Germany, in 1876. She and Albert were maternal first cousins because their mothers were sisters; they were also paternal second cousins. The pair knew each other as children, but their relationship became romantic much later.

Elsa had first married textile trader Max Löwenthal in 1896 and had two daughters, Ilse and Margot, who later became part of her household with Albert. After divorcing Löwenthal in 1908, she resumed the Einstein surname. Albert’s first marriage, to physicist Mileva Marić, ended in divorce in February 1919, and he married Elsa a few months later.

Ilse and Margot are sometimes mistaken for Elsa’s names because they were her daughters, not alternative names for her. Mileva Marić was Albert’s first wife. Elsa and Albert emigrated to the United States in 1933, settling in Princeton, where Elsa died in 1936.
