What was the name of C.S. Lewis’s science-fiction novel set on Venus?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis’s science-fiction novel set on Venus is Perelandra. The book was published in 1943 as the second novel in Lewis’s Space Trilogy, also known as the Ransom Trilogy.

The story follows Elwin Ransom on the planet Perelandra, Lewis’s fictional version of Venus. Ransom encounters a newly created world whose inhabitants face a moral and spiritual temptation. The novel combines planetary adventure with theological and philosophical themes.

Out of the Silent Planet, published in 1938, is the trilogy’s first book and is set mainly on Mars, which Lewis calls Malacandra. That distinction is a frequent source of mix-ups. The trilogy concludes with That Hideous Strength, published in 1945, whose action returns to Earth rather than continuing as a straightforward planetary travel story.
