Till We Have Faces
Answer
Till We Have Faces
Till We Have Faces was C.S. Lewis’s final published novel.
Published in 1956, Till We Have Faces: A Myth Retold was Lewis’s last novel and his final major work of fiction outside the Narnia sequence. It adapts the myth of Cupid and Psyche through the voice of Orual, the ruler of the fictional kingdom of Glome. The narrative is divided into two parts, with Orual’s understanding of her own life changing as the story progresses.
The novel appeared after the completion of the seven Narnia books and after Lewis’s science-fiction trilogy. Its mature style, classical source material, and psychological focus distinguish it from the children’s fantasy for which he is most famous.
The title is sometimes mistaken for a reference to a Narnia book because Lewis’s fiction is often discussed as one body. However, Till We Have Faces is a separate mythological novel, published in 1956 and generally identified as his final novel.
