What was the name of Blackbeard’s flagship?

The story behind the answer

Blackbeard’s flagship was Queen Anne’s Revenge. He captured the vessel in 1717 when it was the French slave ship La Concorde and converted it into a powerful pirate warship.

Queen Anne’s Revenge was originally built in France and was well suited to Atlantic voyages. After taking it, Blackbeard added guns and used the ship to command a small fleet. Its name referred to Queen Anne of Great Britain, who died in 1714 after the War of the Spanish Succession.

Blackbeard ran the ship aground near Beaufort Inlet, North Carolina, in 1718. The wreck was identified in the 1990s, and archaeologists recovered artifacts including cannon, navigational equipment, and medical objects.

The vessel is sometimes confused with Royal Fortune, the name used by Bartholomew Roberts for several ships. Queen Anne’s Revenge is specifically associated with Blackbeard and not with Roberts.
