What was the location of the first season of 'The Real World'?

The first season of The Real World was filmed in New York City.

Retrospectively called The Real World: New York, the season was MTV’s first installment of the long-running reality series. Seven strangers lived together while cameras followed their relationships, arguments, work, and everyday lives. The season aired from May 21 to August 13, 1992, and helped establish a format that later became central to reality television.

The cast lived in a converted loft at 565 Broadway, in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. Filming took place from February 16 through May 18, 1992. The residence was created by combining parts of two apartments into a roughly 4,000-square-foot duplex, giving the production a distinctive shared setting.

The season is often credited with popularizing conventions such as assembling previously unacquainted participants and using personal interviews to provide narration. However, it was not necessarily the first program to use those ideas; the Dutch series Nummer 28, which aired in 1991, is frequently cited as an earlier influence. The first season’s city is sometimes confused with later editions, including The Real World: San Francisco and The Real World: Los Angeles.
