The fictional character known as Strider is Aragorn.
Aragorn first appears in The Lord of the Rings as Strider, a mysterious ranger encountered by Frodo and his companions at the Prancing Pony in Bree. His identity and royal heritage are revealed gradually. He is the heir of Isildur and ultimately becomes King Elessar of Gondor and Arnor.
The name Strider is a nickname used in the North, while Aragorn is the character’s personal name. Other names and titles include Elessar, Telcontar and Estel, each connected with a different part of his history or public role.
Boromir and Faramir are also important men of Gondor, and Denethor is their father, so they are plausible alternatives. None, however, is another name for Strider. Aragorn’s identity is central to the political and historical storyline of The Lord of the Rings.
