The first name of C.S. Lewis’s older brother was Warren.
Warren Hamilton Lewis was born in 1895, three years before his famous younger brother, Clive Staples Lewis. The family commonly called him Warnie. He became a professional soldier, serving in the British Army, and later worked closely with his brother as a researcher and editor.
The Lewis brothers shared a lifelong relationship shaped by childhood imagination, reading, military experience, and Christian faith. Warren kept extensive diaries, many of which became valuable sources for understanding C.S. Lewis’s daily life and friendships.
