What was the first ceremony officially titled the Actor Awards instead of the SAG Awards?
Answer
The 32nd Actor Awards
The 32nd Actor Awards was the first ceremony officially titled the Actor Awards instead of the SAG Awards.
SAG-AFTRA announced the name change in November 2025, explaining that the new title was intended to better reflect an honor given to actors by actors. The ceremony still represented the continuation of the Screen Actors Guild Awards tradition.
The 32nd edition took place on March 1, 2026, and recognized film and television performances from 2025. Kristen Bell hosted the event, which streamed live on Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
The rebranding did not change the core voting body or the ceremony’s major structure. Actors continued to compete in individual performance, cast, ensemble, and stunt categories, along with the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award.
