Serena Williams won the 2015 Wimbledon women’s singles final against Garbiñe Muguruza by a score of 6–4, 6–4. The match took place on July 11, 2015, on Centre Court at the All England Club.
The victory gave Williams her sixth Wimbledon singles championship and her 21st major singles title. It also completed a second “Serena Slam,” meaning she held all four major singles titles consecutively across a non-calendar-year span: the 2014 US Open, 2015 Australian Open, 2015 French Open, and 2015 Wimbledon.
The win carried another milestone. At age 33 years and 289 days, Williams became the oldest women’s singles Grand Slam champion of the Open Era at that time. She also completed the Channel Slam by winning the French Open and Wimbledon in the same season, a feat she had previously achieved in 2002.
The score is sometimes confused with other Wimbledon finals or with Williams’s 2015 semifinal against Maria Sharapova. The final itself was a straight-sets victory, with both sets ending 6–4.
